We had a successful day at Ellingham show today, Wessex Calgary won the bull class, beating a nice young Charolais bull. Wessex Desiree came 2nd in the cow class & Wessex Gloria came 2nd in the calf class – it was the first time off the farm for these 2 and they behaved impeccably for their first time at a show. Wessex fancy pants came 4th in the 12-36month heifer class which we were very pleased with , the 1st & 2nd place winners of the class went onto win the champion & reserve so it was a strong class and fancy pants is only 15months old, the others in the class were all over 2 yrs old but she was placed above a later limousin and a Hereford as the judge felt she had better confirmation/muscle. Calgary was then given special mention in the championship for his muscle definition and as a good example of the breed.
